Max Factor has always been one of my favourite brands at the drugstore and when I saw this new mascara on display I had to pick it up. It’s another version of the, ‘False Lash Effect’ mascara, which is one of my favourites! I already own this mascara so I thought I’d compare this new version with it and see the difference in terms of application, formula and wear.
Voluptuous False Lash Effect
Original False Lash Effect
Review and comparison:
The price difference isn’t huge. The Voluptuous False Lash Effect mascara will eventually retail for £11.99, but as an introductory offer Superdrug are selling it for £9.99. The False Lash Effect (waterproof) sells at £10.99 in Superdrug stores. Both are pretty affordable mascaras and definitely worth the small investment.
I’m absolutely in love with the packaging for the new Max Factor mascara. The teal green is gorgeous and I love the pattern on the bottle itself. I prefer this packaging to the plain black that the older mascara has.
The wand of the voluptuous mascara is more funky compared to the original mascara (Picture above shows this). Although I was intrigued by this, it’s not the easiest wand to work with, especially on the lower lashes. However, once you get the hang of using it, the final result is really nice. There is definitely a difference in terms of volume with the new mascara compared to the false lash effect, which triumphs more in terms of length. This mascara gave me lashes I never knew I had and it wasn’t even that clumpy! Here is some pictures of the final result after 2 coats.
In comparison to original false lash effect –
I feel like they both give gorgeous results, however the False Lash Effect gives a more natural finish, compared to the Voluptuous that gives a more dramatic finish. Both mascaras are in the shade ‘black brown’ and there is no difference in terms of colour on the lashes.
I’d say they both wore the same, there was some minor flaking during the day but smudging was minimal. The False Lash Effect was bound to last longer due to the waterproof formula, so I’m surprised the voluptuous mascara lasted as long as it did.
Overall, I’d say that the mascara’s are both equally as fabulous. If I could only keep one, I’d probably stick with my False Lash Effect just because it’s a quicker application and more natural for everyday. But I’d definitely say the Voluptuous Mascara is worth picking up, especially right now as it is on offer.
